Our Methodology, In Short

Our methodology is claim-dependent: different claims require different evidence. A current price is best verified from the current order page; a claim about ingredient effectiveness requires clinical research; a claim about regulatory status requires a regulatory source. We don't treat all claims as if they need the same kind of proof.

Research Workflow

• Define the exact claim being made
• Classify the claim type (commercial fact, clinical claim, regulatory claim, traditional-use claim)
• Find the most direct available source for that specific claim type
• Check the source's date and independence from the manufacturer
• Check whether the source's ingredient, dose, and outcome actually match what's being claimed
• Record any limitations or gaps in the evidence, rather than smoothing over them
• Write a conclusion no stronger than what the source actually supports
• Recheck related pages on this site for consistency before publishing

Source Hierarchy for Scientific Claims

We generally prioritize systematic reviews and meta-analyses first, then other controlled human research, then mechanistic or preclinical (lab or animal) evidence last. Customer testimonials are not treated as clinical evidence, regardless of how positive or numerous they are — see how we label testimonial content in our Editorial Policy.

Claim Tags We Use Internally

• Clinically Studied — directly supported by controlled human research specific to that ingredient
• Moderate Evidence — real research exists but in a different population or context than the marketed use
• Traditional Use — supported by historical/traditional use rather than controlled clinical trials
• Manufacturer Claim — attributable to the brand's own marketing, not independently verified

Evidence Escalation Audit

Before publishing, we specifically check whether our own wording has become stronger than the underlying source supports. A clinical trial finding "reduced urinary symptom scores" should not be rewritten on our site as "cures prostate enlargement." This check is applied on every page referencing ingredient research, not just once at launch.

Zero-Trust Review

We don't assume our own previously published pages are correct simply because we wrote them. When we make major updates, we audit the page as if a different, unaffiliated publisher had written it — checking claims against current sources rather than trusting our past conclusions by default.

Sources & References

We prioritize primary product information, regulatory sources, peer-reviewed research, and recognized clinical guidance. Manufacturer claims are not treated as independent clinical evidence.
